Walldog sign and mural artists trace their trade back to the sign-painters of old who painted advertisements on walls in communities all over the country. They worked like dogs in the hot sun and thus came to be known as “wall dogs.”
Along with the name, today’s mural artists pay homage to this profession through the use of specific design styles and colors. As a result, their murals capture that sense of nostalgia and historic significance.
In August of 2010, one hundred and sixty-two Walldog artists traveled to Danville from all over the world for a four day meet. During that span, they forever changed and enhanced our City, gracing us with sixteen murals in a 7 block area.
